Martinique

Maybe Martinique (or in his complete name, la Ile de la Martinique) makes you remember in pirates and galleons, but in the actual times, it is one of France's overseas departments, not far from Barbados. The island is famous by its tourism, as many others in the caribbean, but this has something special. As it belongs to France, their current coin is the Euro, so many european tourists choose Martinique as their vacation spot, because find it easier to buy things and spend money in general.

One of the disgraces that this island has seen was the total destruction of its capital city, Saint Pierre, on 1902, what makes me remember of the island of Montserrat, who have seen a catastrophe very similar much more recently, on 1995.

Martinique in football is not currently recognized by the FIFA as an autonomous state, what can be discussed, especially if we see that many other territories that have a similar political state are currently on the FIFA structure, like Puerto Rico. At least the Concacaf accepts them on their confederation and can participate on continental competitions.

About those competitions, from there comes this shirt. That's the design that the caribbean team used on the 2013 Gold Cup played at the USA. In that competition, they began with an impressive win over Canada, with 0-1, goal by Reuperné at the discount, but unfortunately they didn't succeed on keep that great start, losing with Panamá and México. On this last game, Kevin Parsemain scored the only goal of Martinique in the game, so when I got the chance to get a shirt with his name, I didn't doubt too much. I would love that the shirt have got the patch of the Gold Cup on it, but I'm happy anyway.
