South Africa

The country where the last World Cup was celebrated, one of the most known countries of all african territory (and unfortunately, not all for good things), is the one where this shirt come from. South africa is mainly remembered because one of the greatest leaders of all times, not militar or pure political, but a leader for racial freedom, non other that Nelson Mandela. The country is one of the most diverse countries in Africa, with coast, mountains, some plains and a lot of species of plants and animals. One curious thing about South Africa is the fact that it has 3 different capital cities: Pretoria, Bloemfontein and Cape Town, which every one contains one of the 3 different political powers, but we're not going to talk about politics or do some kind of theoretical class here.

South Africa's national football team is relatively new. The first match played under the name of South Africa comes in 1924, in a 1-2 win over the disappeared team of the Island of Ireland (before the partition on Ireland and Northern Ireland), but to find the first match of the real, independent nation of South Africa we have to go to 1993, as they were banned from the FIFA because their politics of Apartheid. They're not a truly powerful team, as they have only participated in 3 of the 6 World Cup editions the have tried to classify. At least they won the African Cup of Nations that hosted on 1996.

The shirt you can see here is the home design used in 2006, when they failed to classify for Germany's World Cup played on that year. In my opinion is a good design, nice to be seen and nice to be worn. It has some very tiny pinstripes in all the front that my phone camera has no reflected as good as I would like.
